Kids Roman Army was founded in 2025. We are an independent, family-run business inspired by a lifelong love of learning, history and playing outdoors. James has experience working in Chester delivering historical tours to both the public and school groups. Natalie is a qualified teaching assistant, history student, and we are parents of two girls.

We provide a full day workshop for primary schools, helping to enrich children's knowledge of Roman Britain through experience based learning and hands-on activities. Click here to find out what we do in more detail.
We are passionate about creating memorable educational experiences that leave a lasting impact on your pupils. It was exactly this type of primary school visit that first inspired James; somebody came into school dressed as a Roman, and that day inspired a lifelong passion for history.
Our workshops are as much about getting children active and engaged as they are about learning history. Your class can experience a slice of ancient life as it was almost 2000 years ago, and we encourage children to get involved, ask questions, and really try and place themselves in the story our day tells.

We firmly believe that getting children outdoors and moving their bodies is fundamentally good for their learning and development, and this is a core ethos behind what we do.

RISK ASSESSED & FULLY INSURED
Here at Kids Roman Army we are all about fun and learning, but we take safety very seriously as well. Our workshops involve the handling of replica weapons and armour, and are therefore fully risk assessed to ensure the safety of all participants. We are covered with public liability insurance up to £10 million.
A FOCUS ON GETTING ACTIVE
A 2023 study by the University of Bristol showed that since the Pandemic, only 41% of children were getting the recommended hour of physical activity per day. Our activity focuses on getting the children active, which has been shown to increase cognitive performance, classroom behaviours and grades.
DBS CHECKED
We know that when you are bringing people into your school, you need to be confident about the safety of your pupils. Our visitor comes with a basic DBS check, though we are more than happy to do an enhanced check through your organisation if required.
